HD TV Alarm | Sonic Shock

Did you ever wonder about how to secure your TV outdoors? We have. You can chain or cable it to a wall, put an alarm on it,  put it in a security case,  or simply remove it and secure it indoors when not in use. A watch dog is another suggestion.

Mosscovers offers Sonic Shock Alarms Sonic Shock is a car alarm for your flat panel television, LCD projector, or computer.  Shock’s siren is triggered by cutting or unplugging a 10 foot electronically monitored tether. There’s no motion trigger, so no false alarms. Once tripped, the siren sounds over 2 hours. Built specifically for commercial and institutional use, Shock is simple, reliable, and tough. Its metal parts are 1/16th inch stainless steel. Its battery will probably outlast your equipment.

Bear in mind that security does not mean impossible to steal. Even banks still get robbed from time to time. Security simply raises the risk to the thief of getting caught. Security devices and methods properly deployed can significantly deter thieves from stealing your stuff and give you peace of mind.

How you choose your security method is based on the location of the TV and your comfort level. For Example; A television on the front porch is more likely to be a target versus one on the back porch; or adding a security cable may deter some of the thieves but not the ones with a cable cutter. You get the picture. For every method there are pros and cons. If you've already decided to leave you television outside unsecured, we suggest using an alarm.

The Sonic Shock Alarm is mounted to the HD Device with a methcrylate glue, the world's strongest. An industrial stength bond agent that can withstand 3500 lbs of force. If someone actually does wrench Sonicshock off of the TV, what's left wont look pretty.

There are 2 models we offer, Sonic Shock3 and Sonic Shock Plasma. Both models comes as a complete kit with everything needed to protect your HD investment. The kit includes the Alarm, mounting plate, battery, 10 ft tether, and 2 keys. If you require more Sonic Shock devices, they can be keyed the same.

Sonic Shock 3 can be used for all types of applications and is  designed for smaller profile devices. The footprint is 2 X 3.5 inches and touts a single 117dB ear-piercing alarm

Sonic Shock Plasma
with a 5.4 X 2 inch footprint, is 33% larger giving you more surface area for the adhesive to hold fast, and more opportunity to use existing case screws on the back of the television to help secure the alarm. This model also adds a 2nd Siren that produces a deafining sound that can be heard from several 1000 feet.

Installing Sonic Shock on the the device is a breeze, simply attach the base plate to the device, snap in the alarm unit, attach the tether, and turn it ON.

The base plate is permanently affixed to the unit. If you ever want to move the alarm to another unit, you need only to purchase the new base plate.

We covered how to connect the alarm to the HD device, but what about the other end of the tether. The tether needs to be connected to a fixed immoveable object object like plumbing, conduit, or wall.

We suggest 1st to find an immoveable object to connect the tether to, if this is not possible you could use a hasp. A hasp is a latch mechanism that covers the screws and then is locked. The lock and latch would need to be removed to gain access to the screws.

Affixing to an immoveable object on the house would be much more difficulty to remove the tether than to use hasp. But this is the nature of security- the more barriers you add, the less likelyhood you will become a victim.

The intent here is to relay a security solution we use on our own outdoor TV. If your like me, you realized that researching subjects on the Internet can be time consuming and wish someone would just post a direct answer. So hopefully this is helpful to others that have this particuliar concern.
